Created To Praise Blog...
Just a little note... I have a search thingy on my gmail that sends me a notice whenever anyone mentions “Let It Rise.” I often post on blog sites and just say a simple thanks for using the song - just for fun. It’s always amazing to me to see how God can take a simple little song and use it to bless so many people. Who knows, maybe I’ll be posting a note on your blog in the future!!!! Let It Rise!!!

Still Rising!!!
I just learned today that Let It Rise has cracked through the top 50 CCLI Songs. It’s so amazing to see how God is using this simple little song that began as a spontaneous song that was first introduced at Calvary Chapel Point Loma during their Wednesday night Bible Study in a coffee shop located right on the boardwalk in Pacific Beach.
I want to give a shout out to Jeremy Redmond and Big Daddy Weave for bringing this song into the new millennium. I also want to give a shout out to William Murphy for bringing this song into the gospel community. His version went to # 1 on the gospel charts and helped open an entirely new audience. William Murphy was able to capture the desperation and heart cry of the song. I also want to give a shout out to 21:03 and PAJAM for putting out one of the most original gospel versions of Let It Rise to date. It’s available on Maranatha! Music’s Top 25 Gospel Praise. Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t thank the worship leader that introduced Let It Rise to the world.... Paul Baloche.
I have so many versions of this song... that I’ve made a little side hobby of collecting everyone’s version of the song. If you have a version of Let It Rise... I’d love to hear it!!! Please email it to hollanddavis@gmail.com.

Article Featured On WorshipTogether.com
Check out an article I wrote on the Biblical role of a Worship Leader. It’s featured on the Worship Together website. Here is a link to the article. For those of you who may not be familiar with Worship Together’s website... it’s a great resource for worship leaders where you can purchase sheet music of worship songs. They often give away free sheet music on new songs. It is also the home of the New Song Cafe where worship leaders like Chris Tomlin, David Crowder and Matt Redman teach you how to play their new songs.

Let It Rise Featured On Heart Of Worship
Don Buettner is the program director for Star 88.3 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and the producer for the most listened to radio program for Praise and Worship called The Heart Of Worship. Several weeks ago I started to receive a stream of emails that said something like.... “Don Buettner is looking for Holland Davis... does anyone know how to contact him.” Long story short... Big Daddy Weave recorded a rockin’ version of Let It Rise that went to # 3 on the Christian radio charts nationwide. So, Don wanted to feature the story behind the song Let It Rise. To hear it... check out the Heart of Worship website.

ASCAP Christian Music Award
I had one of the most interesting experiences of my life happen. I was in Nashville to win an award for “Let It Rise.” Big Daddy Weave released an amazing version of “Let It Rise” in the fall of 2006 and it went to # 3 on the radio charts making is one of the 25 most played songs in 2006.
It was a great evening of music. One of the highlights was a “lifetime achievement” award given to DeGarmo and Key for their contribution as pioneers in Christian Music. They played a mini-set of some of their hits and it rocked!!!
Chris Tomlin won Christian Songwriter of the Year. EMI won Christian Music Publisher of the Year. Roxie and I sat next to Ross Parsley and John Eagen who also won an award for “I Am Free.” It was also good to catch up with some folks that I don’t get to see as often like - Chris Tomlin and David and Toni Crowder. I also got to meet Shelly Giglio - Louie Giglio’s wife.
I’m really grateful to the Jeremy Redmond who had the vision to record “Let It Rise” in a new and fresh way. What a humbling experience to see God’s favor on something - it really has had nothing to do with me - it’s all God.
One other thing I noticed was the large number of worship songs that were winning awards. It’s amazing how true the scriptures are when they say - if you lift me up, I will draw all men to myself.

Song Discovery - "In The Cross Of Christ I Glory"
Here is something totally fun!!! Song Discovery... one of the leading sources of new grassroots worship songs... is featuring one of the recent songs I’ve written entitled “In The Cross Of Christ I Glory.”
One of the things I’ve been doing lately is reading and meditating on some of the ancient hymns of the church. I just love the rich language and lyrical way that deep theological ideas are presented. That is the inspiration behind “In The Cross Of Christ I Glory.”
I was reading an old hymn entitled “In The Cross Of Christ.” I was inspired by the line - “In the cross of Christ I glory. Tow’ring o’er the wrecks of time.” I began to think about Paul’s statement - “he that glories, let him glory in the Lord.” As I applied that to this idea of glorying in the cross of Christ, my thoughts were racing about how the cross towers over all the guilt and shame in our lives. It represents the place where God’s love shines brighter than the stain of our own sin and our blame is entirely removed. It stands as a reminder of redemption and forgiveness. It stands as a welcome sign for all sinners... extending the invitation to come and receive the love of God.
Then the words to the chorus just filled my mind....
How rich, how pure
How measureless
O love of God
How limitless
It shall endure
Forevermore
O love of God, O love of God
This song has become one of our main staples of worship at Ocean Hills Church. It serves as a constant reminder of God’s love and grace. I love using it especially for communion and Easter services.
